What to try at the Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2018!

Let us help you on your quest of finding awesome food at this bazaar.

The Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar is back and this you can expect a HUGE variety of the usual pasar malam eats, as well as some pretty cool Instagrammable treats. There’s absolutely too much to eat, so we have sampled some of the fares for you. Read on to find out what we tried; there’s something for the Instagrammers and something for the ravenous!

1. Rainbow Works
If you want something that is totally Instagrammable, stop by at Rainbow Works. They are known for their trendy drinks such as the famous Mermaid Tears and Fairy Dust. And now, they bring you The Flaming Unicorn. Think of it as a parfait filled with purple vanilla ice cream, Fruity pebbles at the bottom and topped with luscious whipped cream, marshmallows and a balloon ‘cause why not. What makes it flaming is that they will perform some pyrotechnics and light your dessert on fire!

If this is too sweet, you can get their sodas too! They are served in cute lightbulbs that actually light up at the bottom. Choose your favourite flavour and enjoy this refreshing and equally Instagrammable drink!

2. WORD
If you’re the ravenous one, the Ramadan Bazaar has too many options. Yes, they have the usual pasar malam food like the Ramly Burger but why not go for something meaty. For one, check out WORDS’ Gangster Ribs Cup which are beef or lamb ribs with fries in a cup. Choose your portion from a single portion, half or full rack of ribs. These ribs are tender, succulent and super tasty that one cup may not be enough.

3. Sofnade
Continuing our meat fest, pay a visit to Sofnade and get their Meatballs in a Bucket. Sofnade is known for their special drinks served in their signature buckets, so it’s no surprise that their food is served in buckets too. Choose either their chicken or beef meatballs, and it will be served with mashed potatoes and twister fries at the bottom (their meat are sourced from a Halal certified butchery). We got ours with nacho cheese ‘cause cheese is life. This is one filling meal you should share with your friends so that you have room for the other treats Sofnade has to offer!

4. The Raclette Factory + Lemonster
Speaking of cheese, if you’re craving for some Raclette, you’re in luck. The Raclette Factory + Lemonster are here to satiate your cravings. Get the Swiss Rosti Raclette which is potato rosti topped with lots of President Raclette cheese from France. The owner went for a short trip to Switzerland so he can perfect this recipe and indeed, you can taste the difference. The rosti is crispy on the outside with each strip of potato perfectly cooked. And the cheese is all melty and gooey with a little bit of a smoky flavour. It’s just perfect.

If you need something nice and cold while eating your hot rosti, you can get a Lemonster! They offer it as a combo with the rosti for a sweet price; you cannot miss this offer. A Lemonster is like a ball of shaved ice drenched with colourful fruit syrup and garnished with a marshmallow stick. Eat it like a snowball dessert or let it melt a bit and drink it like a fruit punch. You’ll need it on a really hot day.

As you can tell, there’s too many to try at this years Ramadan Bazaar that you’ll probably need multiple visits if you want to sample everything. Get your friends together, buy a variety of dishes and gather at the seating areas (yes they have seating areas!). It’s a great way to try out all the food and spend some fun time together! Or after a long day of shopping and preparing for the festivities, you can recharge with a nice cold drink and dessert. It runs from 12 May to 14 June so don’t miss out.
