A newly opened café by the Association for Person with Special Needs (APSN) could just be the best way to give back to the community.
Leave a note of encouragement for the people with special needs.
Beautifully titled the APSN Mystical Café For All, this enterprise provides opportunities for adults with special needs to work in an F&B environment. While working, trainees are involved in handling kitchen duties such as cooking, along with customer service.
This is one of the best places for them to gain hands-on working experience, as few employers in Singapore are willing to hire a person with special needs.
In the café, you can order dishes such as the Grains of Singapura ($5), nasi lemak with either a choice of fish or chicken, and Spaghetti Ala Melayu ($4), a fusion of mee rebus and pasta. You can also purchase cakes and drinks in the café.
All proceeds from the café will go towards supporting ASPN’s programmes and paying for the trainees’ allowance. This makes having a meal at the ASPN Mystical Café a great way to give back to ASPN – the affordable meal that you purchase will provide funding for a good cause.

ASPN Mystical Café also has a few other ways for you to give back to society. With $12, you can purchase a meal voucher, which will be pasted on a wall for any needy individual to claim as a meal. The café aptly calls it the “Pay It Forward” initiative. You can even pen encouraging messages for the person who claims the meal voucher.
Another way is to purchase the trainees a meal for $2.50. These meals are given to the trainees during their meal breaks while working, thereby lessening their daily expenses.
Under Marchh’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, we have donated 500 meals to the trainees in ASPN Mystical Café.
